Brief Description of
Raita
Raita consists of lot of
vitamins, minerals, and nutrients so this recipe is very useful during fasting
or vrat. Many people have this fruit raita in Navrati during their fasting.
This fruit raita is one of the healthiest options in the dessert category. This
raita is mostly served cool, due to which it tastes better. Raita can also be
consumed with pulao, biryani, etc. Here in this raita, you can use cumin
powder, chaat masala, red chilli powder, dried mango powder, etc as per your
choice and preference. You can make this fruit raita more nutritious by adding
different dry fruits like nuts, cashews, almonds, dates, raisins, etc which
make the raita crunchier in taste. The cooling and refreshing nature of raita
makes one hydrated and refreshed. This fruit raita adds a burst of flavor and
texture to dishes and is enjoyed both in India and all over the world.
* 1 apple
(medium-sized), chopped into pieces
* 1 medium size cucumber
* ¼ of watermelon
* 1 pomegranate (small
to medium)
* ½ cup of cold curd or
yogurt
* Water as required
* 2 to 3 tablespoons
sugar or as required
* ¼ teaspoon of roasted
cumin powder
* 1 to 2 pinches of
edible rock salt
* Red chilli powder as
required
How to prepare fruit
raita:-
Step 1) Chop one
medium-sized apple into smaller pieces like cubes and keep it aside in a bowl.
Step 2) Take one medium-sized cucumber, peel it off, and chop it into smaller pieces of cubes.
Step 3) Chop a few watermelon pieces and keep them aside in the bowl.
Step 4) Take a medium-sized pomegranate, peel it off, and keep it aside.
Step 5) Take ½ cup of yogurt or curd in a bowl. Notice that the curd is not too much sour. Better if you use homemade curd.
Step 6) Give water in the yogurt or curd as required.
Step 7) Whisk the yogurt with the help of a whisk or spoon.
Step 8) Whisk the yogurt
until it becomes smooth.
Step 9) Then add 2 tablespoons of sugar as required and mix the sugar well till it dissolves.
Step 10) Add 1 tablespoon of black salt in the curd.
Step 11) Whisk the curd properly after adding black salt.
Step 12) Now add ¼ teaspoon of roasted cumin powder, 1 to 2 pinchs red chilli powder, rock salt as per taste.
Step 13) Stir and mix the spices very well.
Step 14) Take the bowl and add the chopped apples.
Step 15) Add the watermelon cubes after adding apples.
Step 16) Add the pieces of cucumber.
Step 17) Lastly pour the yogurt mix in the fruit bowl.
Step 18) Mix the yogurt properly with the fruits.
Step 19) Serve the fruit raita after cooling it in the fridge.
Step 20) While serving the recipe garnish the raita with pomegranate arils and spread some chaat masala over it. Enjoy the taste of fruit raita after your Indian meals.
