Ingredients
1) 2cup of all-purpose flour or maida
2) 1 teaspoon of sugar
3) ½ teaspoon of oil
4) ½ teaspoon of baking powder
5) ½ teaspoon of salt
6) ½ teaspoon of dry yeast
7) 2 tablespoons of yogurt
8) 1 teaspoon of kalonji or nigella seeds
9) Lukewarm milk as required to knead
10) A few coriander leaves
11) Ghee or butter as required
Procedures to prepare Butter Naan Recipe
Step 1:- Firstly in a bowl take all-purpose flour or maida as required.
Step 2:- Add sugar as required, baking powder, baking soda, and yogurt and mix it.
Step 5:- Knead the dough very smoothly to make delicious, soft, fluffy butter naan.
Step 6:- Then wrap a plastic or moist cloth over the dough and see that it is airtight. Keep it aside for one hour in a warm place.
Step 7:- After 1 hour, you will see the dough will expand in size due to the presence of yeast. Then add a few drops of oil to remove any air present.
Step 8:- Then make a round-shaped ball with the dough and make it smooth shape with your hand.
Step 9:- With the help of a rolling pin gently make it into a round shape. Do not make it oversize. Add some coriander leaves and kalonji seeds to the dough and roll it. Do not make it over thick or thin but prepare it as per the size of the tawa.
Step 10:- After the tawa becomes hot, put it on the tawa and gently press it with your hands. You can use some drops of oil also. After a few minutes, bubbles will appear on the naan.
Step 11:- Flip the tawa on the flame directly and then bake it until it becomes golden brown. See that it does not get burnt but try to bake it properly on all sides or if you use oil then try to fry it properly.
Step 12:- Then serve the butter naan after brushing some butter or ghee get over it. Finally, I served this butter naan with chili mushroom.
How do we serve butter naan?
Butter naan can be served with any curry, tadka, dal fry, veg sabji, paneer recipes, mushrooms, chicken etc. This butter naan recipe is served on any occasion, birthday party, get-together, etc.
Two ways to make the dough
Without yeast:- Many times I use baking powder, or baking soda in dough instead of yeast and keep it for 30 mins and prepare the dough.
With yeast:- If you want a fluffy, chewy texture of the naan you can use yeast as it tastes different. But making butter naan with yeast needs a little more time.
Tips and Advice
1) You can use wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour if you are health conscious. But the taste of butter naan recipe with wheat flour will be different from that of the naan prepared with all-purpose flour. The soft, chewy, fluffy texture will not happen in the case of wheat flour.
2) Do not make the naan too thick otherwise it will remain uncooked. For its fluffy, soft, chewy texture make the butter naan a little thicker.
3) If you toast the naan for too long it becomes hard and you must knead the dough properly so that it becomes soft and fluffy.
