 Papdi chaat is a famous North Indian chaat recipe which adds tempting flavour and is comiderd as one of the most mouth watering  recipe. It is mainly an Indian street food and can be easily made in home with simple ingredient and can be served at the evening time for snacks party. This chaat recipe is served with papdi, yogurt, sev, chickpeas, boiled potatoes and is garnished with coriander and pomegranate and served with chutneys.

 What is Papdi Chaat // Chaat Recipe?


 Papdi :- The papdi used to make the chaat can be either all purpose flour ie maida or even whole wheat four. Baked papdi can also be a great option for making these recipe.These papdis are also easily available in Indian grocery stores.These papdis can either be deep fried or air fryer can also be a great option, or baking can be also be done. The most healthier option will be to use the baked papdi in place of deep fried.

 Chaat :- The word chaat generally means to lick or taste. Chaat always creates a tempting flavour, mouth watering and delicious sense.The word itself increases the excitement of the recipe itself. Chaat always adds a tangy flavours and creates a crunchy mood in every second. Papdi chaat comes under different names of aloo papdi chaat , dahi papdi chaat, aloo chana chaat, dahi chaat etc.It becomes addictive to one person if one start eating. Though it is an Indian street food , still it becomes healthy if it can be made at home with baked option. 


                         Indredients  

 

1) Chickpeas :- This chickpeas are boiled after soaking for overnight.


 2) Potato:- The potato was peeled off and cut into small cubes, these boiled potatoes are used for preparing the recipe.


 3) Papdi:- Papdi is made by all purpose flour, if not possible can be purchased from nearby store.


 4) Yogurt:- Yogurt to be taken into a bowl and a little quantity of salt, sugar must be added for making the recipe.


 5) Chutneys:- Tarmarind is used to make the chutneys which make a spicy, exciting and tempting flavour to the chaat.


 6) Spices:- Kashmiri red chilli powder is used in the chaat recipe. Cumin powder and chaat masala is also given to add a spicy taste to it. 


 7) Sev:- Sev is taken from the nearest grocery store for seving.


 8) Coriander leaves:- For garnishing the chaat recipe the coriander leaves is a great option which enhances the flavour of the chaat and gives a presentable looks.


 9) Pomegranate:- The pomegranate is used as the toppings of the chaat recipe. This red colour toppings increases its look, style and is also very delicious when consumed with the chaat.


 10) Onion:- The onion are chopped and kept inside on the plate.

 

                                                                  Ingredients(summarized)


1) 1 cup of chickpeas.

2) 2 cup of water.

3) Salt as per requerment.

4) Papdi (10 to15)

5) 1 onion ( medium sized)

6) 1 tomato ( medium sized)

7) 1 potato(boiled and cut into pieces)

8) Coriander leaves, tamarind, dates.

9) 2 tablespoon of tamarind chutney.

10) 1 tablespoon of green chutney.

11) 1 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder.

12) 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder, chaat masla.

13) 1/3 cup of pomegranate seeds.

14) ½ cup of sev

15) 1 cup of yogurt.


How to make Papdi chaat // chaat recipe?

 

Step1:- Boiling of chickpeas > Firstly the chickpeas need to be soaked overnight for 10 hours in water. Then rinse it thoroughly, drain the water and put the chickpeas in the pressure cooker with some salt and steam it and keep it aside on the plate.


 Step2:- Boiling of potatoes > Then the potatoes need to be cut in small cubes and then boiling is done and keep it in ready on the plate.


 Step3:- Preparation of tamarind chutney > Take small quantity of tarmarind and squeeze out tamarind pulp with water and add some salt and sugar to make the chutney very tempting and keep it aside.


 Step4:- Preparation of green chutney > Green chutney can be made through the coriander leaves which makes the chaat recipe more colourful and adds an excellent flavour to it.


 Step5:- Mixture of yogurt >  Take the yogurt in a bowl when it is in room temperature and whisk it to make it smooth. Add some quantity of sugar and salt. 2 table spoons of chaat masala is also added to the yogurt to make it more tasty. After that, keep aside the bowl and move to the next step.


 Step6:- Final preparation of the chaat recipe > Arrange 8 to10 papdi  on a plate.Then on the top of the papdis add boiled cut potatoes and boiled chickpeas.Then add the chopped onion and tomato over it. Then add the blended mixture of yogurt on the top. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of green coriander chutney, 2 to 4 tablespoons of tamarind chutney.


 Step7:- Serving of papdi chaat > Then sprinkle some chaat masala, roasted cumin powder and kashmiri red chilli powder over the chaat . Add black salt and then garnish the papdi chaat with chopped coriander and pomegranate seeds to make it colourful. Lastly add sev for crispiness. Serve it quickly as the papdi chaat becomes wet and soggy if kept for long. Serving of the papdi chaat immediately makes someone feel very crispy and tasty to eat.

 

         Expert Advice for Chaat Recipe

 

1) Quickly served:-  Papdi chaat needs to be served quickly becauseif it stays for long time it becomes wet and soggy where the taste reduces.


 2) Healthy papdi :- Air fryer can be used to make the papdi to avoid oil or it can also be made by baking it. Some more fruits can also be added to make the chaat recipe more healthy and nutritious.


 Papdi chaat recipe  is a very popular dish which I made it for my friends for evening snacks. They relished it and this recipe also helps in the upliftment of once mood.
